As we didn't have access to wifi very much during the flight and have since been trying to cope with jetlag I haven't been able to finish off this before today.
We woke to discover a cloudy sky! The only place we saw rain and cloud for three weeks was in Perth.
We managed to squeeze everything in the case, had breakfast and then stored the luggage in the hotel .
We wandered along by the Swan river for a while and then went to meet Carmel and her husband Tony, who were picking us up to take to the Trefoil Guild meeting
They were easy to chat with and lived in Scarborough.
We arrived at the Guide hall in good time which was located in Melville near Fremantle. Peta lived nearby had organised the event and was already there. The room looked lovely. Some of the group had driven 100km to be there we much appreciated it.
They were all very welcoming . There were only about 10 people in all but we all enjoyed hearing about Guiding from both sides of the world. Their system is just like ours or vice versa and they even had a display of badges on the wall from the 6os which were exactly the same as the ones I collected as a Guide. There were three men there and bob got on well with them.
The food was delicious scones , sandwiches, lemon drizzle cake all good!
The time went very quickly.
Carmel and Tony kindly offered to take us back to Perth and on the way we stopped on the South Bank to view some black swans and the city from the other side of the river. Bob and Tony had similar interests in photography and work and got on well. A pity we hadn't met them earlier in the holiday. Time was moving on so we then returned to Elizabeth Quay for the last beer on the riverfront.
We took a bus to the airport and arrived there at 6.30pm as we weren't quite sure what to expect. At 7.00pm the check in opened and we passed through security as normal. There was however a very strange atmosphere in the building and it was full of very quiet and thoughtful people. Most of the people booked on our plane seemed to be older people of British nationality, probably had been visiting family.
All went to plan, the plane took off on time for Dubai , it was a good journey . In Dubai there were still hundreds of people mingling from all countries . Lots were wearing face masks.
The plane to London took off on time and landed in Gatwick slightly early. I was pleased to arrive after a total of 24 hours travelling time if you include waiting at the airport!!
However we have really enjoyed the 3 weeks we have spent in this country and are now feeling glad we chose to go so early in the year as looks like nobody will be travelling from now on!! It was a fabulous adventure, saw so many interesting things , took a total of about 5000 pictures between us! We loved it!!
I'll post some on here later today.
