Thunder and lightning and heavy rain have been flashing around most of the day . So we decided not to visit Rottnest Island as planned and had another day in and around Perth which included a visit to the Perth Mint.
During the visit they showed you a gold coin which had been struck for the visit of the Queen and which weighed 1 ton and had a face value of $1000,000. In actual gold value it was worth $90 million!
Also watched them make a gold ingot. From pouring the liquid gold into the mould it was solid and ready to hold in less than a minute, and weighed 6kg. They have been melting down the same piece of gold for visitors every day since 1993.
A final bus ride round Perth concluded the day before we headed back to our apartment in Applecross to pack etc
Tomorrow we pick up our hire car and drive South . Lets hope the weather improves for the weekend!! It is a bank holiday here!

Did they have any Perth sovereigns You could have bought one would n't be worth 90million though No more free bus rides The camra is not made for the uk market any longer was originally built before the avensis but ,survivesoutside UK. we never went t o Rottnest island either mum not good on small boats
